Business Loans
A business loan can provide a defined amount of capital that is repaid over an agreed period, subject to lender assessment and terms.
How do business loans work?
A lender provides an agreed amount to the business and the company repays it according to the facility terms. Depending on the product, repayments may be monthly or follow another schedule, and security or guarantees may be requested.
What influences loan availability?
Providers can consider trading history, revenue, profitability, cash generation, existing borrowing, the requested amount and purpose. Strong supporting information can make it easier for a provider to understand the application.
Secured and unsecured lending
Some facilities are supported by company assets or other security, while others may be offered without specific business assets being pledged. The terminology does not remove the need for underwriting, and personal guarantees may still be requested in some circumstances.
